If it hadn't been the second-to-last level, I might've just stopped altogether. Not to mention buggy as hell. The only way to survive at all was to resort to unrealisitc 'PC-gamer' tactics, which was a big let-down. That section was simply too difficult, and on Veteran, every inch of ground is either pelted by nades or exposed from multiple directions. Even on Normal, I struggled at surviving all the way inside. That was the one spot that, imo, Treyarch failed in the game development. I still have nightmares about that level. So, anyone else experience this? And, God forbid, did Treyarch use a similar technique in Black Ops? Not to mention it's outrageously unrealistic. But when you're simply running all over an area trying to avoid grenades and not even worry about gunning down enemies, it kinda defeats the point. I suppose that Treyarch may have done this to.encourage.the veteran players to be more aggressive with the enemy, and not stay in one place for too long ('too long' meaning 3 seconds).
These would occasionally be 'cooked' and impossible to throw back, forcing me to give up good cover. Once I paid close attention, I noticed that one of two things were constantly happening:ġ) The enemy was chucking grenades from ridiculously long distances, with even more ridiculous accuracy (most landing at or around my feet without fail),Ģ) Grenades would actually spawn at my feet, without being thrown at all. Actually, I started to pay attention when I realized that I was spending more time throwing back grenades at my feet than shooting. Playing through World at War on Veteran, I noticed that I was throwing back an awful lot of grenades.
